Installing the add-in
How to get modelflow into Excel, what your IT may need to do first, and how to sign in for the first time.
1. Requirements
modelflow runs in Excel on Windows, on the Mac and in the browser. To sign in, you need a Microsoft 365 account from your company. A personal Microsoft account will not work.
2. Adding modelflow
In Excel, go to Home > Add-ins, search for modelflow and add the add-in. If your IT has already deployed modelflow for you, you can skip this step.
3. If it does not work
If Excel cannot find modelflow, will not add it or cancels the sign-in, your organisation has restricted add-ins or new apps. In that case, your IT needs to approve modelflow. Just forward this page, the next section has everything they need.
4. For IT
modelflow is an Office add-in from the Microsoft store. Sign-in uses Microsoft Entra ID with each person’s work account.
You can deploy modelflow centrally in the Microsoft 365 admin center, to everyone or to specific people and groups. That is also where you decide whether people may add add-ins themselves.
Depending on your consent settings, an administrator has to consent to modelflow on behalf of the organisation before anyone can sign in. Who may use modelflow is controlled in Entra ID through user assignment.

5. Opening and signing in
Once added, you will find modelflow on the Home tab in Excel. Clicking the button opens the side panel.
Sign-in opens in its own window. Sign in there with your Microsoft 365 account. If no window appears, allow pop-ups for Excel and try again.
6. After signing in
If a seat is free in your organisation, you get it automatically. No invitation is needed.
If you are the first person from your organisation, modelflow sets up the organisation and you become its owner. You then assign seats to the right people in the add-in, in the billing and seats area.
If your organisation has seats from a provider, you will find the provider’s maps right in modelflow. If all seats are taken, modelflow tells you. The owner of your organisation or your provider can help.
